Forum of the International Telecommunication Academy: robotics replaces many professions
The forum "New challenges and opportunities for digital transformation of the economy for sustainable development", organised by the International Telecommunication Academy in partnership with EXPOCENTRE AO, opened today as part of Russian Week of High Technologies.
Anastasiya Ositis, President of the International Telecommunication Academy, noted that a great number of reports and discussions at the Forum were devoted to the urgent and popular topic of the National Qualification System development.
Oleg Dukhovnitsky, Head of the Federal Communications Agency, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. He thanked the organisers for the opportunity to gather and discuss the most important issues in the field of communication, share experiences and exchange views.
"Today we can observe a tendency to reduce the need for such professions as accountant, economist, lawyer, and at the same time the growing need for engineers and IT professionals. Over the next twenty years, robotics will displace many professions, as the market economy requires companies to continually improve efficiency. Automation in many industries will lead to new jobs requiring new future qualifications," said the Head of the Federal Communications Agency.
Lubov Dukhanina, Chairman of the Council for Professional Qualifications in Education, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee for Education and Science of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, in her speech emphasized the need to create an integral system for the development of professional standards.
The issue of "penetrating" professional standards became central during the discussion. The report "Overcoming the qualification pit. Place and role of professional standards and qualifications" was delivered by Andrey Khitrov, Chairman of the Council for Professional Qualifications in the Nuclear Energy Industry. He outlined five principles of the Kazan Declaration proposed by the Russian side and supported by Worldskills at the 45th Worldskills Championship in Kazan in 2019.
