15th International Navigation Forum – a key event in application of space technology
"Now it is important for all of us to focus, unite and continue our joint work in the field of space science, space technologies and innovations," said Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Rogozin in his welcome address to the participants in the 15th International Navigation Forum.
The forum is traditionally held at Expocentre Fairgrounds within Russian Week of High Technologies, which opened today and brings together our country's leading exhibitions and congresses in the field of information technologies, telecommunications, navigation and telematics.
The 15th International Navigation Forum is organised by GLONASS/GNSS Forum in partnership with EXPOCENTRE AO. Forum participants, including representatives of state and non-profit associations, discuss at the expert level technological and market trends in the navigation industry in Russia and the world, among which special attention is paid to unmanned transport, as well as opportunities for cooperation and collaboration in the current challenging environment.
The Forum, supported by Roscosmos State Corporation, includes the Sphere Congress, which brings together events dedicated to the implementation of the Sphere project, development of the GLONASS system and the prospects of its establishment as a global industrial technology, satellite communication system and high-precision satellite navigation.
Dmitry Rogozin, who spoke at the session, stated that the Sphere federal project, a unique multi-satellite constellation, was now being implemented in practice. Today the project consists of five observation and five communication constellations. All of these constellations have been thoroughly reviewed by all potential users. "In general, Sphere is a bid for the complete independence of our country in providing our people, our businesses and the state authorities with all space services," stressed the head of Roscosmos. He also noted the particular importance of the satellite constellations included in Sphere for operations in northern latitudes and the Arctic.
The company's partners include Alexander Gurko, the Russian President's Special Representative for Digital and Technological Development, Dmitry Peskov, CEO of the National Technological Initiative Platform, Denis Kravchenko, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Economic Policy Committee, Zhang Yuan, Chief Representative of the China National Space Administration and Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Russia, and other leaders and prominent industry experts.
During the following sessions the congress participants discussed satellite communication market trends, opportunities and prospects for connecting satellite and terrestrial networks for operators and users, application of low-orbit telecommunication systems in the interests of GLONASS development, geoinformation technology market trends in Russia and other important issues.
Representatives of the industry noted with satisfaction that the 15th International Navigation Forum and Sphere Congress are held in close conjunction with Navitech 2022 - the only Russian showcase in the field of geodata, transport and insurance telematics, geo- and transport information systems, intellectual urban mobility and high-precision satellite navigation.
