At Expocentre Fairgrounds Igor Shchegolev, the Russian Minister of Telecommunications and Mass Communications, opens a formal meeting devoted to the 15th Anniversary of RuNet

A formal meeting devoted to the 15^th Anniversary of RuNet, the Russian segment of the Internet, took place in Congress Centre, Expocentre Fairgrounds on 7 April.  This remarkable event preceded Svyaz-Expocomm’2009, Russia’s largest international exhibition for telecommunications, control systems, IT and communication services, to be held at Expocentre Fairgrounds on 12 – 15 May 2009.

The anniversary of RuNet is a significant event for the Russian communications sector. Fifteen years ago, on 7 April 1994, Internic, an international information centre, provided Russia with the .ru top-level domain. From then onwards, the date has been considered as the birthday of the Russian Web segment.
