Svyaz-Expocomm’2013 Is Over
The 25th edition of the Svyaz-Expocomm International Exhibition for Telecommunication, Control Systems, IT and Communication Services ended on 17 May 2013.
It was organized by Expocentre ZAO and E.J. Krause & Associates, Inc. (the USA) in association with the Euroexpo Company, with support from the Ministry of Communication and Mass Media and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, and under the auspices of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation and the Moscow City Government.
For four days all the attention of professionals in the communication and infocommunication sectors was drawn to the show.
In his welcoming address Dmitry Rogozin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, noted that Svyaz-Expocomm was a very powerful catalyst for the development of the Russian communication and telecommunication industry. It was the central event for showcasing industry achievements, which brought together world-leading companies, communication industry leaders to demonstrate their technological capabilities.
Svyaz-Expocomm’2013 was attended by officials from sectoral ministries and agencies. The first day of the show saw Igor Shchegolev, Russian Presidential Aide, Aleksei Volin, Deputy Minister of Communications and Mass Media, and Oleg Dukhovnitsky, Head of the Russian Federal Communication Agency (Rossvyaz) getting familiar with the exhibition.
This year, the show featured new products by 543 companies from 28 countries. Germany, China and Canada put on display their national pavilions and Taiwan set up an umbrella stand. Among the exhibitors were leaders of the global infocommunication market such as Cisco, Agilent Technologies, Huawei Technoligies, Infinera, Ciena, NEC, Corning, Emerson and Zyxel.
Russia was represented by 294 companies - the largest national group - which were showcasing achievements of the Russian hi-tech industry. The Russian exhibitors included industry leaders such as Mobile Telesystems, Radio Frequency Centre of the Central Federal Area, Incab, Svyazstroydetal, Concept Technologies, Fibretool, Vimcom, OCS-1, Energomera, Micran, Eltex, Intercross etc.
The 15 000 m2 exhibition displayed the newest products of the Russian and international communication and telecommunication sectors to more than 20 000 industry specialists from across Russia and the CIS countries.
The exhibition featured conferences, forums, seminars, presentations and round-table discussions focusing on key issues of the knowledge-driven development of the sector.
One of the central events on the programme of business-related events was an enlarged session of the Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies and Mass Communications (Roskomnadzor). There, Aleksandr Zharov, Head of the Service, set a task of creating a new image of the agency to maximize its ability to deliver, cost efficiency and flexibility in decision making, to enhance its technological capabilities and ensure its greater transparency and accountability.
There was a stand of Roskomnadzor at Svyaz-Expocomm’2013 where the organization with its regional bodies and affiliated companies presented the results of their work.
Challenges of developing digital communication in Russia’s regions were addressed at a round-table discussion on digital inequality in Russia. The presentation zone of the exhibition hosted another round-table called Deploying LTE in Russia, as well as many other events.
Svyaz-Expocomm’2013 became a great platform for the industry to discuss a wide range of issues, tackle business challenges, and share experience and research ideas.
