Sviaz 2016 covers all sectors of the communication industry
Expocentre hosted the opening ceremony of the International Exhibition for Information and Communications Technology Sviaz 2016.
This year a rich in novelties exhibition occupies about 20,000 sq m in Pavilions No. 2 and 8 and on open-air space of Expocentre Fairgrounds.
Over 300 companies from 17 countries showcase the latest telecom and IT equipment and products.
The exposition covers all priority sectors of the industry from communications, data networks, telecommunications and network infrastructure to TV and radio broadcasting, software, IT services, Internet based technology plus many others.
Sviaz 2016 is organized by Expocentre and supported by the Russian State Duma, the Russian Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Russian Federal Communications Agency (Rossvyaz). The show runs under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
At the Sviaz 2016 opening ceremony Chairman of the organizing committee, Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma Sergey Zheleznyak expressed his confidence that this year “the show participants will find new partners and sign new contracts”. “It’s very good”, he said, “since the 21st century is the time of high technologies. Russia should be not only one of the strongest markets but also a platform to implement the latest technologies and telecommunications.”
Minister of Telecom and Mass Communications Nikolay Nikiforov made his speech at the opening ceremony and said that Sviaz increased year by year. He pointed out that nowadays Russia had rather low prices for cellular communication, mobile and fixed line Internet. “At the same time the latest communication technologies are also presented in Russia. In the last year alone, the number of 4G cell sites increased by 70 per cent”, said the Minister.
President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sergey Katyrin reminded in his welcome address that the Sviaz exhibition had a great history. It was the first international trade show held in our country which in 1975, in the year of its debut, received the logo of UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry. “It’s a pleasant fact that nearly 200 out of 300 exhibitors taking part the present trade show are Russian manufacturers from all over Russia,” emphasized the head of the Chamber.
Expocentre General Director Sergey Bednov said that for the first time Sviaz arranged the Software Salon featuring products of Russian manufacturers. He also added that Sviaz 2016 runs alongside two other international trade shows: the Exhibition for Navigation Systems, Technologies and Services Navitech 2016 and the Exhibition for Systems for Transport and Logistics STL 2016.
According to Sergey Bednov, Sviaz has always stood out for its comprehensive event program. “For the second year in a row”, he said, “the trade show hosts the Big Media Communication Forum (BMCF) organized by the Russian Association for Electronic Communications and Expocentre. Moreover, the event program features Smart Technology Conference devoted to transportation and logistics.
The head of Expocentre also informed of such an interesting event as the First Open Drone Racing held as part of the Navitech exhibition in Pavilion No.3.
Among the participants in the opening ceremony there were the head of the Federal Communications Agency Oleg Dukhovnitsky, State Secretary and CBR Deputy Chairman Alexander Torshin, and Director of the Russian Association for Electronic Communications Sergey Plugotarenko.
Immediately after the opening ceremony another important event took place. President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sergey Katyrin, head of the Russian Federal Communications Agency Oleg Dukhovnitsky and General Director of Expocentre took part in the stamp cancellation procedure devoted to Sviaz 2016.
According to Oleg Dukhovnitsky, Publishing and Trading Centre “Marka” issued two million stamped envelopes for the Sviaz 2016 opening. Tomorrow they appear in post offices of Russia.
