Announcement about the launch of the terrestrial segment of the Russian satellite system of high speed Internet access at Sviaz 2016

On 10 May 2016 during Sviaz 2016 representatives of the Russian Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications took part in the ceremonial event devoted to the launch of commercial operation of the central switching station of the Russian satellite system of high speed Internet access.

According to the ministry, the system is called to close the digital gap in Russia. The station is located in the Dubna Space Communications Centre. It has to provide those who live in remote areas of this country with the latest telecommunication services. The system will cover up to 100,000 subscribers in 60 regions of Russia.
